Kickoff. I am in the Maracanã, in the most famous stadium of football. The flood light is shining bright, the fans are singing, on the pitch there is the derby between Flamengo and Fluminense. The atmosphere is so exhilarating that I can hardly manage to concentrate on the match.
Half time. The fans are discussing emotionally, popcorn and drinks are being sold. A football stadium that reminds me of a cinema, but not everyone can afford a ticket.
Last minute of the match. Additional time. I try to imagine how it would feel if Philipp Lahm lifts the World Cup on the 13th of July 2014. A strange idea, because as the World Cup is taking place in Brazil, I would be happy for the Seleção to become hexacampeã. It would make millions of people happy. Apito final.
I really enjoyed that match in Maracanã. But most of all I liked the fascinating development of our project. Shortly after our arrival in Rio we were already producing our first movies. Motivation was extremely high. The cooperation between Brazilians and Germans was enriching not only for our work, but also personally. I am sure that these new friendships will last long. contaRio is not just a name – it is a spirit.
I learned a lot during the project, but most of all I got to know Rio de Janeiro as a city that is undergoing big changes, trying not to forget about its roots.
