The Brazilian middle class is growing fast: About 40 Million people have joined the so-called “Class C” during the last ten years. They show their new social status by buying modern kitchen supplies, TVs and furniture, paying with their new credit cards. One representative of the Class C is 32-year-old Monica. It takes her three hours to get to work every day from the suburbs of Rio to the downtown neighbourhood Botafogo. She wants a better future for her daughter, and for herself.
